The company is run by Maire Ni Mhurchu and Bob Kenny in the village of Blarney, Co Cork, Ireland. Maire trained as a teacher of Food Science and Irish in Sligo but shortly after college she went to sea on an Irish Sail Training Vessel, Asgard 2, where she was catering officer and trainer for 4 years. She sailed around much of Europe, the east coast of the USA and Canada in 1984 and Australia for its Bicentennial in 1988 and has great experience of dealing with boats of all sizes.
On her return to dry land, Maire worked with the Irish Tourist Board and then settled down to teaching in a County Cork school for many years. She took cookery students on tours of the English Market every year, and loves exploring the local foods. Her Curtis and Hooper grandparents have lived in Cork city for generations and she regularly visits her Murphy relatives in beautiful West Cork. She has a love of water sports, cookery and walking the quiet lanes of County Cork.
Maire and Bob met on Clare Island in the West of Ireland. Bob has degrees in History and Geography and taught both in Africa for 4 years. He has been a Tour Guide in Ireland and the UK for 25 years. His father was the local expert on the Hill of Tara and Boyne Valley in Meath and Bob has inherited his love of a good story. He knows what the international traveller needs in terms of comfort, experiences and local guides with expert knowledge. He delights in getting off the beaten track, getting close to nature and sharing his love of the country with visitors.
